EVENT DESCRIPTION: Step back in time and experience life at Fort Carlton. Join us in exploring the daily life of fur trappers and traders, experience Indigenous cultural presentations, relax with some tea and bannock, learn about archaeology initiatives at Fort Carlton and more!
11 a.m. - 5 p.m.: Explore the Fort
Visit the fort buildings with knowledgeable interpreters and learn about Fort Carlton's role in the Hudson's Bay Company (HBC) and the fur trade.
1 p.m. - 4 p.m.:
- Willow Cree Powwow Dancing Demonstrations Presented by Pêmiska Tourism
- Creeland Dancers Métis Jigging Demonstrations Presented by Pêmiska Tourism
The Creeland Dancers are an Indigenous dance group that specializes in a fusion of Metis jigging and square dancing. The performance provides not only a high-energy, entertaining show but an educational experience focused on First Nations and Metis cultural enrichment and reconciliation.
